Customer Focused Manufacturing

Since the mid-1960s, the Leone family has provided a different type of glass company. We have made it a main focus of our business to learn and grow with our customers. Our 30 or so domestic competitors, at that time, have since through acquisition or failure become only a handful. A year or so after Mr. Leone's passing in 1979, we decided to bring the technical expertise we had developed in manufacturing on our high-speed automated production lines for the beer and beverage industry to the food industry. By prototyping new inspection, process control and manufacturing equipment and by bringing to bear technology which at that point was only used in dedicated beverage container forming lines, we began making our mark in the food business for quality and friendly, attentive customer service.

But we did not stop there. After we had virtually eliminated the dimensional issues customers had learned to accept from glass suppliers in their production lines by tighter control and on-line laser measurement, we began focusing on what else would make their lives easier. We instituted a projection based forecast modeling system so that we could help our customers anticipate their needs as well as try to remove the worry of their supply chain. After all, it was glass users who were scrambling to keep their lines running during a nationwide work stoppage by several unions in the glass industry which began our transition from the cosmetic container manufacturing business into food and beverage in the first place.

At Your Service

The Leone Sales and Customer Service group is comprised of people who enjoy helping and working with customers. Each customer has a personal contact who will work very hard to accommodate and to respond to their glass container needs. Some of our people started their careers here, some came from other segments of the glass industry and several from the food industry itself. Direct phone, email and fax lines come into the sales department offices where the glass is made and near where it is stored, not in some corporate office far removed from operations or from the importance of each delivery.

Leone Industries prides itself on providing a high level of attention to our customer's needs and concerns. As well as being HAACP certified, we also retain the American Institute of Baking (AIB) to audit our facilities for Food Safety. Our most recent score is one of Superior based upon the new AIB guidelines which is our fourth Superior year in a row. We are not required to do this outside audit or maintain our HAACP certification. Rather, we see ourselves as not just a supplier to the food and beverage industry but that we are in the food and beverage business and maintain our facilities and business accordingly.

Timely, accurate deliveries are computer assured:

We understand about manufacturing and the need for things to work like clockwork (try morphing a molten material at 2200 degrees fahrenheit into a fancy jar at 500 pieces per minute and putting it into a six pack case.) Most of our shipments occur within six hours of order. Orders can be entered through e-orders, fax orders, or phone orders. They are entered or confirmed by our people and our highly customized ERP system, then relayed to forklift mounted computers in the appropriate remote finished goods warehouse. These units inform the driver from which warehouse and which bay to pick the order and how many pallets of each item to load onto the appropriate truck or container which will deliver it. Every pallet is bar code scanned to verify the correct item, count and destination. When the system knows the truck loading is finished, it asks for a confirming response from the driver who authorizes the final paperwork and creates the shipping documentation. By subscribing to our e-system your designee will be informed by e-mail at the time loading is completed. We will automatically provide truck or container information for further tracking. All pallet and shipping data is retained for product tracking and quality assurance.

We normally ship full trailers holding up to 30 pallets of product. These truckloads can be made up of any one of our many different items. By offering minimal drop charges for less than truckload (LTL) deliveries of twelve pallets, smaller customers can manage their inventory as well as their finances.
